Early Release Draft
Phew! What a couple of months! I'm happy to share that all backers at the $68 level and above (who filled out the Backerkit survey :P) will be getting an early release PDF of Anansi's Tapestry of Lives Saturday, March 11. The PDF does not have all of the content, but it's still a big draft coming in at over 200 pages. And we wanted you to begin enjoying these awesome NPCs and other content asap!
We've experienced some delays in hearing from all our writers to make sure we have their names correct for crediting and our team also wanted a bit more time to get some additional art completed. Check out some of the new sketches!

After you receive the early release draft, you'll also receive a link to a Google Form where you can provide feedback, if you like. This is optional, but it's an opportunity for us to hear what NPCs are resonating, and how/if you like the initial side quests. We can use the feedback to add some polish, and guide the outstanding content. There is still some more writing to do, but it's coming along at a good clip! We want to be able to ensure we're taking into account your feedback, so you get the BEST book possible. :)
Player Options
One of our stretch goals was for five subclasses and five feats inspired by some of our NPCs. We have drafts for all of these, and will be sharing this early draft with everyone who backed for the book or PDF of Anansi's Tapestry of Lives. If you've completed the Backerkit survey, you'll get a PDF of the early release for player options. We'll also send a feedback form, so you can let us know what you like or what could use improvement.

The Black Ballad (coming to Backerkit)
Rick Heinz is one of the creative minds behind "The Red Opera" which was a successful Kickstarter. Essentially a hard rock inspired D&D 5E setting book. It's cool!
He and some others are launching the Black Ballad over on Backerkit, which is an adventure that starts after your players experience a TPK (total party kill). It's a beautiful book with first class content.

Hi, everyone! I'm Alive! Per my earlier update, I was down with a really bad flu bug from Jan 7th/8th until Jan 28. It was... a lot. But, I’m finally catching up on things, and wanted to share some progress!
86% of backers have completed the Backerkit survey. There are still 182 people who haven’t completed it. We’ll continue sending reminders, but if you haven't completed your survey, please do so. It's important for us to be able to get a finalized print quote for everything.
We’ve sent out the NPC Collaboration forms for backers at the “Thief of The Sky” and “Avatar of The Sky God’s Revenge” tiers. If you received one, please complete it, so we can get cracking on making your custom NPC entry for the book!
NPC s and Early Release
As NPC are moving through editing, we’re back to laying out the early release PDF. We’re pushing to co complete it soon, and I apologize for the delay. Here are some of the new NPCs you’ll see in that copy.

Some beautiful locations to make your game world come to life! Not every place in the adventure is detailed, so this supplement is there to make your life easier. Each location has a description that can be read aloud, other immersive details, and searchable secrets (stuff that's noticeable, hidden, or secret should player search the area).

Vox Storia
In about 2 weeks, we’ll be ready to launch the Beta for Vox Storia. This is our web app feature that allows you to review NPC details and listen to their monologues on your computer, phone, or tablet. You’ll also be able to create and share your own NPCs, locations, and items (with or without voice over). You'll be able to organize them into collections based on your game, and other useful features!
Eventually, we plan on adding collaboration features, so you can get help with art, writing, editing, and voice over -- and get paid if you're doing that kind of work.
Once we’ve gone through thorough Beta testing, we’ll allow select creators to begin selling their own content on the app!

Out with the Flu and OGL stuff

Hey, everyone. I apologize that we are now behind schedule for the PDF. I've been sick with the flu since January 7/8. I'm feeling better (still pretty congested in the chest) and back to editing. I'll do my best to make up the time.
For those who've been reading the news, you probably saw the proposed Open Game License (OGL) changes Wizards of The Coast was proposing. Those changes have been delayed. We did not expect those changes to significantly impact Anansi's Tapestry of Lives. We are relying on the SRD for stat blocks, but the majority of content in the books is system neutral.
That said, it does potentially impact our future plans to develop more content in an round Anansi's - as well as some of what we wanted to accomplish with the app "VoxStoria" (fka NPC Voices - link is to the demo).
In addition to providing you easy access to all of the PCs, paired with professionally voice acted intro monologues, we've developed it so that you can create and share your own NPCs. The plan had been to turn it into a full market place, where you could also access voiced/animated locations, item, and any other description that would help enhance your tabletop gaming experience for you and your players.
We're still developing all of those marketplace tools, because this is going to be a really useful resource for DMs and players. But it's causing a bit of anxiety and stress for us. It's difficult to operate in uncertainty - especially as we've heard many players saying their plan is to move away form D&D5E. However, this app will allow you to create and share content for any system.
One thing that would help, is if we could get some signal boosts for the pre-order store. I'd be grateful if you post the following link to your socials.
We're committed to delivering a amazing set of products, but we'd love for this to be more than a "one-off." Seeing more pre-orders come in helps our team to know there's continued support and interest. That is Very motivating during these uncertain times.
Anyway - like I mentioned, I'm not 100% better yet and can use any get well messages you want to send my way.

Happy New Year! Content Update + Backerkit Reminder

In addition to a quick update, I wanted to wish you a Very Happy New Year. The last couple of years have been really difficult for a lot of people. If you've been having a rough time - I'm rooting for you, and believing that 2023 will be better for you and the people you care for than 2022 was.
Content Update
We've been hard at work editing pages so they can get over to layout and wrangling writers, so we have enough content to make the early release worthwhile for you. To that end, check out this quick video that scrolls through some of the pages!
You'll see some blank white pages with an NPC name and the word placeholder. Those are, as you'd suspect, placeholders for pages we're waiting to get back from layout. Once we get those, we'll be ready to share the early (and incomplete) version of the book book through Backerkit along with a number of VTT tokens (if you your pledge or pledge + add-ons is at the $68 level or higher). As a thank you for investing in Anansi's, you'll be able to start using some of these fantastic NPCs in your games sooner.

We'll also be happy for any feedback on the NPCs. We'll listen to all the feedback and make adjustments to improve the book at every opportunity. We also recognize that some people might like what others dislike, so we'll make the best decisions we can around potential content changes/edits.
